YWAM ToRCH began in 1993 as a response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uganda.
Thirty years later - while we have a big heart for JInja City - there are still ministries that we are doing that go beyond the City and into the villages.
CLINIC
KIHP Clinic is our village health facility, located in Kangulumira sub-county, Kayunga District.
Our mission is to provide high-quality services in a timely and competent manner; working in co-operation with the local communities and government health services.
At KIHP Clinic, we offer general out-patient services, with a special interest in HIV AIDS, along with some in-patient beds. The facility has over 250 HIV positive clients from the community receiving care.
To meet the growing demand for health services in more remote communities, we take our services there through a number of outreach activities. These include HIV and TB testing and treatment, health education, family planning, immunisation, and cervical cancer screening.
We are serving around 600 clients each month. In the future, we intend to expand our services to include dentistry and maternity care.
FOSTER FAMILY NETWORK
Adam's mum was abandoned by her husband who disappeared. She was later diagnosed with cancer.
She ended up hospitalized and the hospital soon became home to her and baby Adam, Through a friend of a friend, she heard about the Foster Families Network. Desperate for help, she asked one of the families to take care of her child until she could be discharged. Sadly, she passed away just two weeks later, leaving Adam alone and vulnerable.
This story is typical of what leads to the growth of the Foster Family Network. The vision of the Network is to receive disadvantaged, vulnerable and orphaned children into families and enable them to become responsible and productive members of society. The Foster Family Network offers A Family for LIFE.
CHILD EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP
We began this program over 25 years ago, enabling women who had lost husbands - often due to HIV / AIDS - to have at least one child complete education.
Over time, many children have benefited from this program. Currently, we sponsor one university student, two vocational students, three secondary school students, and one primary school student.
We also support other students from time to time, depending on the availability of funds.
Isaac is a testament to the success of this program. He graduated with a degree in Arts with Education from Kyambogo University, having received education support from CES since his primary school days. Isaac expresses gratitude for the love and generous support he received towards his education, stating that without it, he would not have been able to complete his studies. His university training helped him discover his talent in the arts.
