Here is a short note from our current volunteers who joined our team last month:
"Hearing the baby's heart beat for the first time and feeling the baby moving is incredible. I don't have words to describe it, you just have to experience it. It shows me just how amazing God is to create something so special." Doris

Most weeks we spend a day with Christine, the midwife, learning to do antenatal check ups for women who are expecting a baby. This involves checking on the women's general health, taking their blood pressure, measuring fundal height,

palpating the abdomen

distributing government mosquito nets if they don't have one, dispensing iron and folic acid supplements as well as sometimes giving intermittent preventative treatment for malaria and testing for HIV. The midwife also gives some health education about different topics such as preparing for labour, nutrition in pregnancy and breast feeding.
“It's encouraging to see a large number of women coming and I feel it's such a privilege to get to know the women at this exciting time and be able to bless them in this way.” Anna
