Kerygma

The word ‘Kerygma’ is Greek, and means “Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus”.

Kerygma is one of YWAM’s family of ministries, and has bases within YWAM around the world. Kerygma’s vision is to mobilise Catholics to come to the Lord, and into missions.

YWAM's call to work with the local church, reveals that there is a field ripe for harvest here in Uganda, and we can impact the Catholic Church with sensitivity and encouragement.

YWAM's value of reconciliation leads us to initiate and join in other efforts to unite Christians especially in the area of witness and evangelism.

Kerygma promotes Evangelisation through

  • Training and mobilisation of young Catholics for evangelisation and missions·
  • Spiritual formation for lay people
  • Lay leadership development
  • Promotion of Christian community
  • Working for reconciliation among Christians
  • Works of Mercy, serving those in need

To accomplish these goals, Kerygma has designed many local and international opportunities for training and outreach.

Kerygma networks with other Christian organisations with similar goals, assists in parish and diocesan efforts, and partners with other groups to create new evangelistic initiatives. There are many such groups that are Catholic and renewal-oriented, especially that of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Here in Uganda, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal is having a great influence reviving people's faith so that Catholics may have a renewed relationship with the Lord.

Many people have a strong Roman Catholic identity, and value further training in their Christian lives. Thro evangelism, Kerygma teams are welcomed to share their message, both in peoples home, as well as on programmes like youth camps, conferences and training events.
