Youth With A Mission is an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures, and denominations, dedicated to serving Jesus.
YWAM’s purpose is simply to know God and to make Him known. YWAM operates in more than 1000 locations in over 150 countries, with a staff of nearly 16,000. Coming from many different backgrounds and working in a wide range of situations, YWAMers are united in their desire to be part of changing people's lives and have responded to the "Great Commission" -- Jesus' command to His disciples to: "go into all the world and tell the good news."YWAM  was established in Uganda in 1986 and now there are ten operating locations. YWAM ToRCH is based in Jinja, Uganda, and is part of this worldwide family.  It started in the early '90s as a Mercy Ministry base in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic working in the villages some 30km from Jinja City. Over the years the work has evolved and today YWAM ToRCH is involved in prison ministry, healthcare, child sponsorship, and caring for orphans and vulnerable children. As well as our Time2Own Cities vision is for cities around Uganda, Africa, and beyond. (edited)
